Synopsis

Fourteen-year-old Cordelia lives under the tyrannical control of her mother, a sorceress who can magically commandeer her body. When her mother targets a wealthy squire for marriage, Cordelia finds an unlikely ally in the squire's sharp-witted sister Hester, who senses the danger lurking behind the sorceress's genteel facade.
