Synopsis

In an alternate history, a coalition of African Americans, European socialists, and native Congolese purchase land from King Leopold to establish Everfair, a utopian nation in the Congo Free State. With steam-powered technology and diverse alliances, the settlers resist colonial exploitation — but building a just society proves as challenging as defending one.
