Synopsis

Thirteen-year-old Melpomene Murray lives aboard the orbital colony ship Flying Dutchman, where Earth-born adults have engineered every aspect of the children's social development. When a new student from Earth disrupts the carefully managed social order, Melpomene begins to question everything she has been taught about her world and herself.
