Synopsis

An English country gentleman named Albert Richwick witnesses a hunted fox transform into a beautiful but mentally incapacitated naked woman, whom he names Sylva and takes into his home as his supposed niece. As he attempts to civilize and educate her, the novel explores the blurred boundaries between animal and human nature, with Sylva perpetually caught between her fox instincts and her human form.
