Synopsis

In an alternate history where Jewish refugees settled in Alaska instead of Israel, homicide detective Meyer Landsman investigates the murder of a chess-playing junkie in a fleabag hotel. As the case deepens, it connects to messianic politics, Cold War conspiracies, and the looming reversion of the Sitka settlement to American control.
