Synopsis

In a post-apocalyptic future, monks at the Albertian Order of Leibowitz preserve ancient scientific texts through centuries of darkness. Spanning three periods over 1,800 years, the novel follows humanity's cyclical rise from barbarism through a new renaissance and ultimately toward another nuclear catastrophe, exploring the tension between faith and reason.
